In order to adhere to the government guidelines here at Murmur, we are making some changes in the restaurant to make sure that you and our team are as safe as possible whilst you enjoy the Murmur experience.

The Standards at Murmur

  • We have undertaken rigorous decontamination cleaning throughout the restaurant before re-opening and once we are fully open these processes will be repeated at regular intervals.
  • We are reducing our capacity by 50% to enable safe social distancing.
  • Safe spacing will be put in place to ensure your table is at least 1m plus away from other tables, although you will of course be free to choose how closely you would like to sit next to your fellow guests within your party.
  • All common areas and touch points such as door handles will be sanitised every 15-30 minutes and the restaurant doors will remain open where possible to avoid contamination of the handles.
  • All stools around our bar area have been removed and drinking at the bar is not permitted.
  • Sanitising stations are available by the doors for your use on entering the building and stations placed in the restaurant will be stocked with sanitising wipes that are available on request.
  • All tables and chairs are sanitised thoroughly after each visit.
  • Cleaning checklists will be available for every area of the restaurant and wiped down after use.

The Murmur Team

  • All members of our team will ensure that their hands are clean and washed prior to leaving home and when they arrive at work and will wash their hands regularly and between tasks as well as having continuous access to hand sanitiser.
  • Our team will be temperature checked before starting work and will be sent home immediately if an increased temperature is detected.
  • Our team will avoid physical contact with each other where possible.
  • Our team will not share food or drinks.
  • Our team have all completed a ‘Safe to Trade’ Covid-19 health questionnaire.
  • Our customer facing team will be recommended to wear government approved facemasks / coverings whilst working.
  • Our Managers will complete daily Covid-19 checklists to ensure compliance.

The Dining Experience

  • Our team are here to help you receive a safe and relaxing experience and will be happy to discuss with you the extra measures we have taken to ensure your safety.
  • We will be serving from lunch until sunset depending on the weather. Please keep an eye on social media for updates.
  • Due to the majority of our seating being outside on the terrace and the weather being unpredictable we will be operating on a walk in and waiting list basis only.
  • Tables will be available for up to a maximum of 6 guests from separate households outside only or two groups from two households inside or out.
  • We will stagger seating times to avoid queuing, however sometimes this may not be avoided due to individual circumstances.
  • We request that you try to arrive promptly for your table after a waiting list call back to avoid any wait times. If you think you may no longer require your table please let us know.
  • All tables will be laid for you personally once you are seated with a sanitised menu.
  • We would appreciate that after the initial tasting of the wine you would self serve your water and wine.
  • Only paper wrapped straws will be used.
  • Condiments will be available on request.
  • Sugar will be served in individual packets.
  • We request that payments are made by card only.
  • Card machines will be cleaned after each use.

Murmur Restaurant logo Located in The Arches on Brighton seafront overlooking the West Pier and sister restaurant to the award-winning 64 Degrees, Murmur was opened by Michael to offer a different dining concept, serving healthy and honest food for lunch and dinner in a stunning beachside location. The restaurant is named Murmur from the word murmuration which is the shape that the starlings make when they flock and fly between the two piers here on the coast, with the logo representing the six arches in which the restaurant is located. Murmur has 37 covers inside and a further 40 covers on the terrace overlooking the beach, is children friendly throughout the day and dogs are welcome on the terrace.
